After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Medina Valley, Somerset was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They never let the Pearsall Mavericks get on the board and left with an 11-0 win. The Bulldogs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine matches by six runs or more this season.
Nick Flores was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 19 over 6.1 innings pitched. Somerset is 5-2 when Flores allows one or fewer hits, but 9-14 otherwise. Flores was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI.
In other batting news, Blake Menchaca was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with four RBI, one run, and one double. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Nathan Flores, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
