On Monday, the Wilson Tigers faced the Lancaster Bruins in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Wilson came out on top in a nail-biter against Lancaster and snuck past 66-63. Winning may never get old, but Wilson sure is getting used to it with their sixth in a row.
Leading Wilson to victory were Josh Leonard and Tristan Thompson. Leonard dropped a double-double on 16 points and ten rebounds, while Thompson scored 18 points along with six rebounds and five steals. Thompson hasn't dropped below two steals for six straight games. Khristian Bruce was another key contributor, scoring ten points.
Wilson has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 15-4 record this season. As for Lancaster, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 11-5 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Wilson will take on Myrtle Beach at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Myrtle Beach will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps South Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 118th, while Wilson is ranked 15th). Lancaster won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Catawba Ridge at 7:45 p.m. on January 16th. Catawba Ridge has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 807 points over their last ten contests.
