Softball Game Preview: Arbor View Aggies vs. Silverado Skyhawks

Arbor View is a perfect 4-0 against Silverado since March of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Aggies are taking a road trip to square off against the Skyhawks at 3:30 p.m. Neither Arbor View nor Silverado posted many runs in their last games, so it might be the pitching crews that decide this one.

Arbor View fell victim to Palo Verde and their airtight pitching crew on Monday. They took a 4-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Panthers. The Aggies have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Audrey Melton spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four runs (all of which were unearned) on seven hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.

Meanwhile, Silverado was not able to break out of their rough patch last Monday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They came up short against Green Valley, falling 17-2.

Silverado saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jordyn Bunce, who went 1-for-3 with one triple. That triple marked the first that Bunce hit this season. Malia Pacheco was another, scoring two runs while getting on base in both of her plate appearances.

Silverado's defeat dropped their record down to 2-9. As for Arbor View, their loss dropped their record down to 8-7.

Silverado's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Arbor View has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 8.9 hits per game. It's a different story for Silverado, though, as they've been averaging 11.1 hits. Given Arbor View's sizable advantage in that area, the Skyhawks will need to find a way to close that gap.

Arbor View took their victory against Silverado when the teams last played back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 20-3 score. Do the Aggies have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Skyhawks turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
