The Curlew Cougars came tearing into Friday's match with 13 straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 17.1 points) and they left with even more momentum. They put the hurt on Cusick with a sharp 48-25 win. Curlew has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five matchups by 22 points or more this season.
Curlew found their leader in underclassman Annika Baker, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 12 rebounds. Emma Lena Baker was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with five rebounds and four steals.
Curlew's win was their tenth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 14-1. They've been dominating during the matches in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 16.9 points. As for Cusick, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-6.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Curlew will square off against Almira-Coulee-Hartline at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Cusick won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Republic at 3:45 p.m. on January 13th.
