After three games on the road, Highland Tech is heading back home. Having just played yesterday, they will get right back to it and host the Sugar Creek Wildcats at 7:30 p.m. on January 24th. Both teams come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Even though Highland Tech has not done well against Thomas Jefferson recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Highland Tech managed a 48-44 win over Thomas Jefferson.
Highland Tech got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Elijah Whitted out in front who scored 16 points along with seven steals and six rebounds. Elijah Sherrill was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with nine rebounds.
Sugar Creek posted their biggest win yet this season on Monday. They blew past Bonnie Cone Leadership Academy, posting a 76-24 win on the road. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Sugar Creek.
Sugar Creek's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Terry Watson, who scored 15 points along with five assists and three steals. Watson is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last four games he's played. Another player making a difference was Corde Harrison, who scored 14 points along with five steals.
Highland Tech's victory bumped their record up to 6-11. As for Sugar Creek, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 10-7 record this season.
Highland Tech came up short against Sugar Creek in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, falling 48-37. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Sugar Creek's Aidan Gatewood, who scored 17 points along with two steals.
