The Mott Marauders kicked off their season on the road on Wednesday and hit a couple of potholes. They were beaten by Berkley 61-15. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Mott in their matchups with Berkley: they've now lost four in a row.
Berkley got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Madi Bonsall out in front who scored 19 points. Bonsall is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Maeve Nolan was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with eight rebounds and five steals.
Mott's defeat was their third straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 0-1. As for Berkley, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 4-2.
Mott will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Fraser at 7:00 p.m. on January 3, 2024. Fraser is coming into the contest hot, having won their last three games. As for Berkley, they will head out on the road to face off against Royal Oak at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Royal Oak presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Berkley in Michigan (Royal Oak is ranked 37th, while Berkley is ranked 234th).
