The Eastern Mennonite Flames have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three matchups by 27 points or more this season. They breezed by Lord Botetourt on the road to the tune of 77-50. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 40-17.
Eastern Mennonite's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Drew Hatter led the charge by dropping a double-double on 17 points and 11 rebounds. The matchup was Hatter's ninth in a row with at least ten points. William Gardner was another key contributor, scoring 20 points along with six rebounds.
The victory was the third in a row for Eastern Mennonite, bringing their record for this year to 6-3. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.0 points per game. As for Lord Botetourt, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 5-5.
Eastern Mennonite will head out on the road to face off against Roanoke Catholic at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Roanoke Catholic is out to stop a five-game streak of losses at home. Lord Botetourt will take on Staunton River at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Staunton River will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Virginia Rankings (they are ranked 341st, while Lord Botetourt is ranked 139th).
