Pahokee is 0-5 against Leonard since January of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. Pahokee suffered their biggest defeat yet this season on Tuesday. They were dealt a 69-22 loss at the hands of Atlantic Christian. While losing is never fun, Pahokee can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 697th, while Atlantic Christian is ranked 205th).
Despite the defeat, Pahokee saw an underclassman step up: Javian Jones scored ten points.
Meanwhile, Leonard suffered a rough 79-53 loss at the hands of Cardinal Newman on Friday. Leonard has not had much luck with Cardinal Newman recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
The match pitted two dominant guards against one another in Emmanuel Augustin and Jermaine Council. Council had a great game and scored 26 points. Meanwhile, Augustin was balling out in the loss, scoring 15 points along with five assists and four steals.
Pahokee has not been sharp recently, as they've lost seven of their last eight matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-10 record this season. As for Leonard, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-3.
Pahokee was taken down by Leonard 81-43 in their previous meeting back in November of 2023. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Augustin, who scored 25 points along with eight steals.
