The Tri-Village Patriots are taking a road trip to challenge the Indian Lake Lakers at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Tri-Village is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt wants to keep things rolling.
Tri-Village's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They came out on top against Tri-County North by a score of 4-0. Those four runs were actually the fewest the Patriots have put up all season, but given the result they're probably not too concerned.
The result came thanks to Elizabeth Poling's shutout, as she gave up just two hits and racked up eight Ks.
At the plate, Tri-Village's win was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Caley McCarroll, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.
Indian Lake never got on the board in their matchup on Tuesday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Urbana on Friday. They blew past the Hillclimbers 10-0. Considering the Lakers' hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.
Bre Wisener made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. Wisener was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while going 2-for-4.
In other batting news, MacKenzie Miller was incredible, scoring a run and stealing three bases while going 2-for-3. That run marked the first that she scored this season. Annie Rapp was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.
Indian Lake was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .393. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Urbana only posted a batting average of .190.
Tri-Village pushed their record up to 8-0 with the victory, which was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Indian Lake, the victory got them back to even at 3-3.
Indian Lake's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Tri-Village has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .470. It's a different story for Indian Lake, though, as they've only averaged .349. Will they be able to contain Tri-Village's hitters?
Tri-Village might still be hurting after the 10-0 loss they got from Indian Lake in their previous matchup back in May of 2023. Can the Patriots avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
