The Mechanicsburg Wildcats are taking a road trip to square off against the Mifflin County Huskies at 4:15 p.m. on Monday.
On Thursday, Mechanicsburg didn't have quite enough to beat State College and fell 2-1.
Meanwhile, Mifflin County got themselves on the board against Mount Union on Friday, but Mount Union never followed suit. They blew past the Trojans 14-0. Considering the Huskies have won five games by more than six runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Macy Pietzch was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. Pietzch was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with two RBI and one double. That double marked the first that she has hit this season.
In other batting news, Mifflin County let Ava Baker and Riley Hine run wild. Baker went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double, while Hine went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. That triple was Hine's first of the season. Another player making a difference was Piper Specht, who went 1-for-3 with four RBI, one run, and one double.
Mifflin County kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 5.3 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 matches they've averaged 9.2.
Mifflin County's win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 6-9-1. As for Mechanicsburg, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-7.
Mechanicsburg was able to grind out a solid victory over Mifflin County in their previous meeting back in April, winning 7-2. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Wildcats since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
