Jimtown has gone a perfect 4-0 against Knox recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Jimmies are taking a road trip to take on the Redskins at 5:30 p.m. Jimtown will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.
Jimtown gave up the first runs on Friday, but they didn't let that get them down. They walked away with a 9-4 victory over Westview.
Claire Carlson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned runs on nine hits.
On the hitting side, Jimtown got a big performance out of Lilly Gaugler, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with three runs and one double. Another player making a difference was Olivia Campbell, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double.
Jimtown kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 18 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in May of 2024.
South Central typically has all the answers at home, but on Saturday Knox proved too difficult a challenge. They had just enough and edged out the Satellites 2-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Redskins have posted since May 3, 2024.
Knox also let their pitcher toss all seven innings and she was also dialed-in: Cheryl Barnes gave up only one earned run on nine hits. Barnes has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.
Knox has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-12 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Jimtown, they pushed their record up to 13-7 with the win, which was their third straight on the road.
Tuesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Jimtown hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .375. However, it's not like Knox struggles in that department as they've averaged .324. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Jimtown skirted past Knox 8-6 when the teams last played back in April. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Jimmies since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
