The Akron Tigers gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Tuesday. They took their game at home with ease, bagging a 87-43 victory over Christian Central Academy. With Akron ahead 46-12 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.
Leading Akron to victory were Derren Brooks and Jake Leach. Brooks dropped a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds, while Leach scored 15 points along with three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Aiden Romesser, who scored six points along with five assists and five rebounds.
Akron's victory was their third straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 1-0. As for Christian Central Academy, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-4.
Akron won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Pembroke at 4:30 p.m. on December 20th. Christian Central Academy will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Western New York Maritime Charter at 6:30 p.m. on January 11, 2024.
