The Aiken Fighting Green Hornets typically have all the answers at home, but on Friday the South Aiken Thoroughbreds proved too difficult a challenge. They managed a 42-36 victory over the Fighting Green Hornets. The win was familiar territory for South Aiken who now have three in a row.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead South Aiken to victory, but perhaps none more so than Sumara Williams, who scored ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Zanayia Harrison, who scored eight points.
Aiken's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Azaria Sapp, who scored nine points along with four blocks and three steals. Another player making a difference was Norriyah Bradley, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds.
South Aiken now has a winning record of 10-9. As for Aiken, their defeat ended a six-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 10-5.
South Aiken will take on North Augusta at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. North Augusta is looking to tack on another W to their seven-game streak on the road. As for Aiken, they will face off against Airport at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
