Lancaster and Prairie du Chien are an even 5-5 against one another since May of 2017, but likely not for long. The Flying Arrows will be playing at home against the Blackhawks at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Lancaster is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.8 runs per game this season.
Lancaster easily dispatched Viroqua on Saturday, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. The Flying Arrows fell just short of Belmont by a score of 7-5 on Saturday. The Flying Arrows have struggled against the Braves recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive lost meeting.
Greta Jensen was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. That home run marked the first that she launched this season. Emma Jensen was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.
Meanwhile, Prairie du Chien strolled into their game on Thursday with a perfect record and they left with the same. They walked away with a 5-1 win over Platteville.
Claire Kennedy spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on three hits and racked up ten Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts any time she's pitched this season.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Lainey Mitchell, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Rita Achenbach, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-2.
Lancaster's defeat dropped their record down to 4-2. As for Prairie du Chien, their victory bumped their record up to 4-0.
Tuesday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Lancaster has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .449. However, it's not like Prairie du Chien struggles in that department as they've averaged .510. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Lancaster couldn't quite get it done against Prairie du Chien in their previous matchup back in May of 2024 as they fell 7-3. Will the Flying Arrows have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
