The Archbishop Ryan Raiders and Ragdolls waltzed into their match on Monday with three straight wins but they left with four. They blew past West Catholic, posting a 58-31 win on the road. Given Archbishop Ryan's advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 13th, while West Catholic is ranked 210th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Archbishop Ryan's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Thomas Sorber, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds. Sorber is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last 14 games he's played. Darren Williams was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with four steals.
West Catholic lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Jayvon Byrd, who scored 11 points. Another player making a difference was Rahmir Speaks, who scored four points.
Archbishop Ryan has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games, which provided a massive bump to their 10-6 record this season. As for West Catholic, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-11.
Coincidentally, both teams will both be playing Neumann-Goretti the next time they take the court. West Catholic will head out to face Neumann-Goretti at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, while Archbishop Ryan will head out to face them at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
