Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but unfortunately for the Rockhurst Hawklets, they weren't the ones who walked away with it. They were just a hair shy of victory on Friday and fell 28-27 to the Eagles. Rockhurst's defeat signaled the end of their eight-game winning streak.
Rockhurst's lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Ethan Hansen, who threw for 208 yards and two touchdowns, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. The team also got some help courtesy of Jack Bichelmeyer, who picked up 120 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Liberty North can attribute much of their success to Micahjo Barnett, who rushed for 161 yards and a touchdown.
Rockhurst's loss dropped their record down to 10-2. As for Liberty North, the win was the 12th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 12-1.
Rockhurst does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Liberty North is on the road again on December 2nd and play against Christian Brothers at 7:00 p.m. on December 2nd. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Missouri (Christian Brothers is ranked fourth, while Liberty North is ranked first).
