Elk County Catholic is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Claysburg-Kimmel a 6-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Crusaders, who have now won 12 contests by six runs or more so far this season.
The result came thanks to Matthew Gilmore's shutout, as he gave up just five hits and racked up seven Ks. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Chase Simbeck, who went 3-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Frankie Smith, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one run.

Noah Emswiler spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on five hits and racked up six Ks.
On the hitting side, Eden Christian Academy saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Andrew Sharpless, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI.
Elk County Catholic's record is now 20-3. As for Eden Christian Academy, their record now sits at 16-4.
