The Colfax Falcons will face off against the Oakmont Vikings at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Colfax gave up the first runs on Thursday, but they didn't let that get them down. They put the hurt on Mira Loma with a sharp 15-1 win. The victory continues a trend for the Falcons in their matchups with the Matadors: they've now won three in a row.
Delilah Mitchener made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out nine batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Those nine strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two runs.

Colfax kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 20 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Oakmont won against Cordova on Wednesday with 12 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Thursday. Everything went the Vikings' way against Lincoln as they made off with a 12-4 win. The victory was familiar territory for the Vikings, who have now won four contests in a row.
Like Colfax, Oakmont also got a great game from a two-way player: Chloe Gomes. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching seven innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off ten hits. Gomes has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, going 3-for-5 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles.
In other batting news, Oakmont let Maria Gonzales and Addison Turner run wild. Gonzales went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI, while Turner went 3-for-5 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Gonzales is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last ten games she's played. Another player making a difference was Lila Hale, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
Colfax's win bumped their record up to 7-9. As for Oakmont, their victory bumped their record up to 14-6.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Monday as neither team is afraid to steal. Colfax has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.6 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Oakmont struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.8 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
