White River Valley extended their losing streak to four on Wednesday, dropping their season record down to 1-11 in the process. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 7-6 heartbreaker at the hands of the Eastern Greene Thunderbirds. The Wolverines were not able to make up for their defeat to the Thunderbirds from their previous meeting back in May of 2024.

Lainey Strosnider made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Leia Fulford, who went 2-for-5 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
As for Eastern Greene, their victory was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 5-6. That's two games straight that they have won by just one run.
On Eastern Greene's side, Charley Paurazas made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out nine batters over eight innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits (and only one walk). Paurazas was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-6 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run.
In other batting news, Ashlynn Bellman was incredible, going 3-for-6 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. Grace Deckard was another key player, going 4-for-5 with three stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.
Looking ahead, White River Valley will be playing in front of their home fans against South Knox at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Eastern Greene, they wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 26-5 loss against Linton-Stockton on the 8th.
