Nixa faced Ozark in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Tuesday. The Eagles narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Tigers 3-2. Winning may never get old, but the Eagles sure are getting used to it with their ninth in a row.
Nixa wouldn't go down easily and took Ozark into a fifth set where they got it done with a five-point win. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 23-25, 25-23, 26-24, 23-25, 15-10.
Gwen Kubik paced Nixa's offense, picking up 20 kills. Kubik got some help from Taylor Wood and her 28 assists. Allie Pearcy controlled things from the service line, finishing with two aces.
Despite the loss, Ozark still got an impressive performance from Bradie Soloman, who had 14 digs and one assist. Another player making a difference was Brooklyn Soloman, who had ten digs and one assist.
