Basketball Recap: Rocky Mount Skates Past Nash Central with Ease

While Rocky Mount didn't have the best season last year (they finished 7-15), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They really took it to the Nash Central Bulldogs for the full four quarters, racking up a 74-47 win. The Gryphons have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three matchups by 23 points or more this season.

Rocky Mount found their leader in freshman Brelyn Moses, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 13 rebounds. The game was Moses' third in a row with at least ten points. Anthony Jones was another key player, going 6 for 8 on his way to 12 points and six rebounds.

When it comes to explaining why Nash Central lost on Friday, don't look at Gerald Davis. Despite the final result, he went 8 of 11 on his way to 17 points in addition to seven boards and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Markell Jasper, who posted five points along with five assists and four steals.

Rocky Mount's victory bumped their record up to 6-4. As for Nash Central, their defeat was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 2-8.

Rocky Mount will host Roanoke Rapids at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Rocky Mount is facing Roanoke Rapids at the right time seeing as Roanoke Rapids is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Nash Central, they will head out to take on Northern Nash at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Northern Nash is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 63.8 points per game this season.
