Basketball Recap: Fleetwood Comes Up Short

It was a proper cat-fight when Fleetwood duked it out withQuakertown on Saturday. The matchup between the Fleetwood Tigers and the Quakertown Panthers didn't end well, with the Fleetwood Tigers falling 51-37.

When it comes to explaining why Fleetwood lost, don't look at Caden Ryan. Despite the final result, he went 5 of 11 on his way to 12 points and five boards. Ryan has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Chris Sandt, who posted four points.

Fleetwood has traveled a rocky road recently having lost nine of their last 12 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-15 record this season. Their recent woes sure aren't a result of their performance when it comes to three-point shooting accuracy: their three-point shooting accuracy was 27.8% in those games and 23.5% outside of them. As for Quakertown, with the victory, they broke their four-game losing streak and moved their record to 4-16.

Fleetwood and Quakertown could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Pennsylvania Rankings. Fleetwood (ranked 624th) will meet Wyomissing (ranked 199th) at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Quakertown will take on Abington at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday down 387 places (463 vs. 76).
