Two dominant signal callers in Jett Goldsberry and Clay McClelland are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Heritage Hills Patriots will be playing at home against the Charlestown Pirates at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Heritage Hills had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 47 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They claimed a resounding 50-7 win over Washington at home. The match was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 43-0.
Heritage Hills found their leader in underclassman Goldsberry, who threw for 141 yards and four touchdowns, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. The team also got some help courtesy of Hunter Meredith, who gained 120 total yards and two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Charlestown was fully in charge on Friday, breezing past Eastern 52-14 on the road. The victory was nothing new for Charlestown as they're now sitting on four straight.
McClelland continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 59 yards and two touchdowns on only six carries, while also throwing for 167 yards and two touchdowns on only 11 passes. McClelland is on a roll when it comes to rushing touchdowns, as he's now punched in two or more in the last three games he's played. Camran Mitchell was another key contributor, picking up 108 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Their wins bumped Heritage Hills to 8-1 and Charlestown to 6-3.
Keep an eye on the end zone in Friday's game as the pair haven't had much trouble getting there this season. Heritage Hills commands a daunting offense this season, having averaged 5.6 touchdowns per game. However, it's not like Charlestown struggles in that department as they've been averaging 5 per game. With these two high-octane teams facing off on Friday, fans should be in for an exciting offensive matchup.
Heritage Hills beat Charlestown 35-25 in their previous matchup back in October of 2022. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Charlestown's Zander Morris, who picked up 136 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Now that he won't be playing on Friday, will it be that much easier for Heritage Hills to walk away with another win? There's only one way to find out.
