Basketball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Alex Nichols and Riley Michels Lead Foundation Academy to Victory

Foundation Academy had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 19 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. They came out on top against the Holy Trinity Episcopal Academy Tigers by a score of 62-53. Given the Lions 's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 115th, while the Tigers are ranked 346th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Leading Foundation Academy to victory were Riley Michels and Alex Nichols. Michels almost dropped a double-double on 16 points and nine blocks, while Nichols posted 19 points in addition to seven assists and seven boards. The game was Michels' third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Nate Waldon, who went 7 of 13 on his way to 14 points and seven rebounds.

Foundation Academy has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 6-2 record this season. As for Holy Trinity Episcopal Academy, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-5.

Foundation Academy will head out to square off against Forest Lake Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Holy Trinity Episcopal Academy, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Viera at 7:00 p.m. One thing working in Viera's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last three contests.
