Last Thursday, Lafayette Christian took their contest at home with ease, bagging a 50-15 victory over the Lions. That looming 50-15 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for Lafayette Christian yet this season.
Carmen Bridges was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 31 points and 14 rebounds. That makes it six consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Lafayette Christian's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Marta Oria, who scored 12 points along with eight steals and five rebounds.
Meanwhile, Trinity Christian School of Griffin was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Tuesday as they fell 55-49 to the Pirates.
The match pitted two dominant guards against one another in Leah McLaurin and Sadie Lewis. Lewis had a great game and scored 18 points along with four steals. Meanwhile, McLaurin was balling out in the loss, scoring 14 points along with eight rebounds and six steals.
Lafayette Christian is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matches, which provided a nice bump to their 9-5 record this season. As for Trinity Christian School of Griffin, their loss dropped their record down to 5-12.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Lafayette Christian have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 27 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Trinity Christian School of Griffin struggles in that department as they've been averaging 26.2 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
