Canton hasn't had much luck against Dunlap recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Little Giants will challenge the Eagles at 4:15 p.m. Canton has given up an average of 6.8 runs per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Canton came into their game on Thursday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They came up short against Illinois Valley Central, falling 15-5.

Colin Johnson made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with four RBI, two doubles, and one run. He has become a key player for Canton: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least three RBI, but 6-10 otherwise.
Meanwhile, Dunlap made easy work of Geneseo on Thursday and carried off a 13-1 win. The Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 contests by six runs or more this season.
Landon Gray looked comfortable as he pitched four innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in seven consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Davis Weeks was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and two doubles. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Gavin Gibbs, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, two doubles, and one RBI.
Dunlap pushed their record up to 15-5 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.4 runs on average over those games. As for Canton, their loss dropped their record down to 8-11.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Monday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Canton has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.2 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Dunlap struggles in that department as they've been averaging 8.4 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Canton skirted past Dunlap 2-1 in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Do the Little Giants have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Eagles turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
