The Mifflin Punchers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They took a serious blow against Northland, falling 87-55. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Mifflin's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Tariq Johnson, who scored 18 points along with seven rebounds. Another player making a difference was Bj Woody, who scored ten points along with six rebounds and three steals.
Mifflin's defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 1-4. As for Northland, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 3-0.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mifflin won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Lancaster at 2:30 p.m. on December 16th. Lancaster presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Mifflin in Ohio (Lancaster is ranked 159th, while Mifflin is ranked 517th). Northland will be home for the holidays to greet Taft at 8:15 p.m. on Monday.
