The Dieterich Movin Maroons won against Oblong/Hutsonville/Palestine on Tuesday with 65 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Tuesday. Dieterich put the hurt on Oblong/Hutsonville/Palestine with a sharp 65-41 victory. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 39-17.
Dieterich's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Miley Britton, who scored 26 points along with nine rebounds. That makes it eight consecutive games in which Britton has scored at least 25% of Dieterich's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Addison Miller, who scored 15 points along with five rebounds.
When it comes to explaining why Oblong/Hutsonville/Palestine lost, one person who can't be blamed is Genna Kidwell. Despite the final result, she scored 23 points along with three steals. The match was Kidwell's fifth in a row with at least ten points. Ginna Russell was another key contributor, scoring ten points.
Oblong/Hutsonville/Palestine struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only three offensive rebounds. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Dieterich pulled down 18 offensive rebounds.
The win makes it two in a row for Dieterich and bumps their season record up to 15-7. As for Oblong/Hutsonville/Palestine, their loss dropped their record down to 6-15.
Dieterich is on the road again on Monday and play against Neoga at 2:30 p.m. on January 15th. As for Oblong/Hutsonville/Palestine, they will be playing at home against Ramsey at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Ramsey focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 11 on Tuesday.
