The biggest upset of the week belonged to Jim Hill, who took down 75th ranked Clinton, 14-10. Justin Tidwell threw for 105 yards and one touchdown and ran for 24 yards in the win.
The Tigers extended the longest winning streak in 6A Region 2 this week by beating the Arrows, 14-10. The victory was the fourth in a row for Jim Hill.
Jake Schwartz and Daniel Goodspeed gave Madison Central a balanced attack through the air and ground last week. Schwartz threw for 235 yards and two touchdowns, while Goodspeed ran for 147 yards. Teammate Doug Ball added to the ground attack by rushing for 61 yards.
Malik Dear was the best wideout in the league this week as Murrah lost to the Jaguars. Dear tallied seven receptions for 95 yards. Marquisian Chatman helped Murrah's passing attack out by catching four balls for 33 yards.
Madison Central's Schwartz and Keith Williams have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Schwartz has thrown for 1225 yards this season, while Williams, a 6-foot-1 receiver, has 33 catches for 666 yards. John Jennings's team's Zackary Tidwell leads the league in rushing yards with 581.
A big matchup in 6A Region 2 this week will be when Northwest Rankin takes on the Tigers. At the moment, the Cougars are in fifth, while Jim Hill is in second.
The Tigers moved up to 91 from 117 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. A 14-10 win over Clinton helped Jim Hill improve its standing.
