Silsbee has enjoyed a three-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will take on the Bellville Brahmas at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Silsbee had no problem doing just that on Friday. They blew past the Hornets 35-10. Given Silsbee's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 98th, while Gatesville is ranked 360th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Silsbee's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Michael Moshier, who threw for 402 yards and five touchdowns while completing 85.7% of his passes. Raydrian Baltrip also deserves a shout-out for his two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Bellville put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They took their matchup on the road with ease, bagging a 67-0 win over Madisonville. The final score was a far cry from the score of their previous head-to-head, which saw the teams combine for 12 points.
DD Murray continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 167 yards and five touchdowns on only 14 carries. Murray is on a roll when it comes to rushing touchdowns, as he's now punched in two or more in the last six games he's played. Sam Hranicky also helped out as he racked up 103 rushing yards.
Silsbee has yet to lose a matchup at home this season, leaving them with a 12-0 record. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 47.2 points per game. As for Bellville, their win bumped their record up to 12-0.
Friday's matchup might be decided on the ground as these two are both standouts in the run game. Silsbee has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 173.4 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Bellville struggles in that department as they've been even better at 410.2 per game. It's looking like Friday's matchup might have some serious battles in the trenches.
