Basketball Game Preview: Loomis Wolves vs. Bertrand Vikings

Loomis has gone 8-2 against Bertrand recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Loomis Wolves will challenge the Bertrand Vikings at 7:15 p.m. Loomis knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past four matches -- so hopefully Bertrand likes a good challenge.

Loomis is headed into the contest having just posted their biggest victory since January 23rd on Friday. They blew past Maxwell, posting a 70-34 win. The Wolves have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven games by 20 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, Bertrand had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 18.8 points) and they went ahead and made it five on Friday. They walked away with a 67-57 victory over the Trojans.

Loomis better focus on containing Marcus Hernandez and Thunder Nelson as the pair were huge in Bertrand's win. Hernandez went 8-for-17 to rack up 24 points and seven boards, while Nelson went 9-for-17 en route to 21 points along with six rebounds and three steals. The match was Hernandez's tenth in a row with at least 16 points. Another player making a difference was Kayden Hatfield, who posted seven points.

Bertrand pushed their record up to 19-5 with the win, which was their tenth straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.4 points over those games. As for Loomis, they have been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-9 record this season.

Loomis couldn't quite finish off Bertrand in their previous meeting back in December of 2024 and fell 62-60. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Hernandez, who went 6-for-14 on his way to 21 points in addition to seven rebounds and four steals.
