Clearfield is 2-8 against Tyrone since April of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. Clearfield will look to defend their home field against Tyrone at 4:30 p.m. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
While Clearfield's victory against Bishop Guilfoyle wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. Clearfield had just enough and edged out Bishop Guilfoyle 6-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Bison have posted since May 8, 2024.

Christian Welker made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits. Those seven strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.
In other batting news, Kam Kushner was excellent, scoring a run while going 2-for-4. Matt Irvin was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.
Meanwhile, Tyrone put another one in the bag on Tuesday to keep their perfect season alive. They came out on top against Bellefonte by a score of 9-6. While the Golden Eagles didn't have the best season last year (they finished 7-12), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.
Tyrone also got a great performance from D Ewing as he pitched five innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off five hits.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on A Walk, who scored two runs and stole three bases while going 2-for-3. Another player making a difference was B Parson, who went 1-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.
Tyrone hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most five strikeouts every time they've taken the field this season.
Clearfield now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Tyrone, their victory bumped their record up to 4-0.
Clearfield came out on top in a nail-biter against Tyrone when the teams last played back in March of 2024, sneaking past 4-3. Will Clearfield repeat their success, or does Tyrone has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
