The Kokomo Wildkats will take on the North Central Panthers at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Kokomo is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.1 runs per game this season.
Kokomo took a loss when they played away from home on Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Thursday. They blew past Lafayette Jefferson 18-8. The Wildkats haven't had any issues with the Bronchos recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.
Amirah Marciniak was a standout: she went 4-for-5 with two triples, four RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Lanaya Buckner, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, two doubles, and one triple.
Kokomo always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .605. The last time their OBP was this high was back in May of 2024.
North Central couldn't beat Lawrence North on Thursday even though they stacked four runs on them in the second inning. The Panthers lost 15-5 to the Wildcats. The Panthers haven't had much luck with the Wildcats recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.
Kaia Pantos was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. Samantha Saalfrank was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
North Central's defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 5-7-1. As for Kokomo, their win bumped their record up to 8-6.
Everything went Kokomo's way against North Central in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, as Kokomo made off with an 11-5 victory. Will the Wildkats repeat their success, or do the Panthers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
