The Whiteoak Wildcats fought the good fight in their overtime game against the Western Indians on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Indians by a score of 72-70. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Leading Western to victory were Kam Janes and Drew Haggy. Janes dropped a double-double on 28 points and 12 rebounds, while Haggy scored 31 points along with 7 rebounds and 3 steals. That makes it two consecutive games in which Janes has scored at least 25% of Western's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Cutter Clay, who scored 8 points.
Whiteoak now has a losing record at 1-2. As for Western, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 3-0.
Whiteoak will head out on the road to face off against East Clinton at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Western, they will be playing at home against South Webster at 7:15 p.m. on Friday.
