Softball Recap: Lambert Snags Sixth Victory in Last Eight Games

Eight must be Lambert's lucky number: they beat North Atlanta with that score not once but twice on Tuesday. The Longhorns didn't even let the Warriors on the board, marking the Longhorns' second-straight 8-0 shutout. Considering the Longhorns have won ten matchups by more than seven runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

The team relied heavily on Olivia Cantarutti, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in September. Another player making a difference was Katia Castillo, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Lambert has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-11 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for North Atlanta, they have been struggling recently as they've lost 17 of their last 19 games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-22 record this season.

Lambert will be playing in front of their home fans against Duluth at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. North Atlanta will be paying especially close attention to the Longhorns' matchup: after the Longhorns face off against the Wildcats, they'll take on North Atlanta again at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
