West has been on the road for three straight, but on Tuesday they'll finally head home. They will take on the Alta Hawks at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Utah (West is ranked 23rd, while the Hawks are ranked 25th).
Last Friday, West came up short against the Bengals and fell 60-52. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for West in their matchups with the Bengals: they've now lost three in a row.
Despite the defeat, West had strong showings from Laite Latu, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 14 rebounds, and Kylee Falatea, who scored 16 points along with six rebounds and three steals. Falatea hasn't dropped below two steals for 14 straight games. Another player making a difference was Tia Pan, who scored five points along with ten rebounds and two steals.
Meanwhile, Alta entered their tilt with the Rams with ten consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with 11. Alta walked away with a 43-35 win over the Rams on Friday. Despite the win, that was the fewest points Alta has scored all year.
West's loss dropped their record down to 11-6. As for Alta, their win was their ninth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 17-2.
West might still be hurting after the 60-40 defeat they got from the Hawks when the teams last played back in January. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Alta's Leafa Niumeitolu, who scored 25 points along with five rebounds and two steals. Now that West knows the damage she can cause, will they be able to stop her this time? There's only one way to find out.
