River Road has gone 9-1 against Childress recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Wildcats will head out to square off against the Bobcats at 4:30 p.m. River Road is coming into the match hot, having won their last nine games.
Childress' hitters are going to have their work cut out for them on Friday: River Road hadn't allowed a single run the last three times they've hit the field. Everything went the Wildcats' way against Tulia on Thursday as they made off with a 19-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Wildcats, who have now won 13 contests by seven runs or more so far this season.
Ashlynn Ferris made a splash no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out ten over five innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in March of 2024. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one home run, six RBI, and two runs.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Carol Koval, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. She has been hot recently, having also posted at least one home run the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Ava Sharp, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.
River Road kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in five consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Childress unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Tuesday. They fell 8-5 to Bushland.
Ansley Parr spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned (and three unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up 11 Ks.
At the plate, Journey Prince was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaleigh Ross, who scored a run while going 2-for-5.
River Road pushed their record up to 21-8 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.3 runs over those games. As for Childress, their loss dropped their record down to 12-10-1.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Friday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. River Road has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.9 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Childress struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 10.6 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
River Road was able to grind out a solid win over Childress in their previous matchup back in March, winning 5-2. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Wildcats since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
