The Lutheran Lions's game back in December of 2023 was a tough loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Thursday. They came out on top against University by a score of 53-46. The victory was all the more spectacular given Lutheran's disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 94th, while University is ranked 27th).
Lutheran found their leader in underclassman Berkley Schneider, who scored 26 points along with six rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Schneider has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayda Vigil, who scored eight points along with four steals.
When it comes to explaining why University lost, one person who can't be blamed is Addison Harding. Despite the final result, she scored 17 points along with eight rebounds. Harding continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Natalie Moore was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with two steals.
Lutheran is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 4-6 record this season. As for University, their defeat ended a eight-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 7-2.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lutheran will take on Severance at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Severance has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games. University won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Brush at 7:00 p.m. on January 5th. Hopefully Brush focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 21 on Thursday.
