There's no place like home for the Southside Christian Sabres, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road two weeks ago. They put the hurt on GREEN Upstate with a sharp 52-31 win on Thursday. Given Southside Christian's advantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 125th, while GREEN Upstate is ranked 258th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Southside Christian was led to victory by Zane Hagy and Josh Hennum. Hagy scored ten points along with six rebounds and three blocks, while Hennum scored 12 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Bryson Duck, who scored seven points along with four steals.
Southside Christian pushed their record up to 7-4 with that victory, which was their third straight at home. They've been dominating during the games in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 24 points. As for GREEN Upstate, their loss dropped their record down to 3-8.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Southside Christian won't have much time to rest: their next match is against First Presbyterian Academy at Shannon Forest at 6:45 p.m. on January 5th. Hopefully First Presbyterian Academy at Shannon Forest focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up ten last Saturday. GREEN Upstate will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Anderson C at 7:15 p.m. on January 16th.
