The King George Foxes pushed their score all the way to 74 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a hard 91-74 fall against James Monroe. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Thursday (64), King George still had to take the loss.
King George's loss came despite strong showings from Colson Clary and Chauncey Walker. Clary went 6 for 12 from beyond the arc en route to 20 points and 5 assists, while Walker scored 20 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Walker has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Xavier Pryor, who scored 11 points along with five assists.
Even though they lost, King George were working as a unit and finished the game with 23 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as James Monroe only posted 14 assists.
Makel Minor was his usual excellent self, scoring 27 points along with seven assists for James Monroe. Minor continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Michael Edwards was another key contributor, scoring 23 points.
King George has not been sharp recently as the team has lost 13 of their last 16 matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-17 record this season. As for James Monroe, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 17-5.
King George does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for James Monroe, they will head out on the road to challenge Chancellor at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Averaging 75.38 points so far this season, James Monroe's high-powered offense has been in full-swing lately, so Chancellor better be ready for a challenge.
