The Nature Coast Tech Sharks will take on the Springstead Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams are coming into the game red-hot, with Nature Coast Tech sitting on five straight wins and Springstead on three.
Nature Coast Tech is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They breezed past Anclote to the tune of 62-0 on Friday. Given Nature Coast Tech's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida football rankings (they are ranked 205th, while Anclote is ranked 517th) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.
Nature Coast Tech got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Cashis Williams out in front who rushed for 58 yards and one TD, and also threw for 88 yards and one touchdown while completing 75% of his passes. Another back making a difference was Nick Elwin, who rushed for 63 yards and a pair of scores on only six carries.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Nature Coast Tech was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 227 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 185 rushing yards in five consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Springstead beat Cypress Creek 20-10 on Friday.
Springstead's win came from a few key players Nature Coast Tech will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was William Figueroa, who rushed for 136 yards and one touchdown. The team also got some help courtesy of Tysen Norton, who threw for 108 yards and a pair of TDs on only ten passes.
On the defensive side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Springstead's defense and their three sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Zaihron McCullough, Lucas Bridges, and Kaleb Johns, who each picked up one sack apiece.
Springstead now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Nature Coast Tech, their win bumped their record up to 5-1.
Friday's matchup might be decided on the ground. Nature Coast Tech has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 203 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Springstead struggles in that department as they've been averaging 151 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's game turns into a tough fight on the ground.
