Softball Recap: Krista Cortazar Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Riverside

Mid Valley was handed a heart-breaking two-run loss in their last contest, but they sure didn't let that happen against Riverside on Thursday. The Spartans' pitcher stepped up to hand the Vikings a 15-0 shutout. The Spartans might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 16 matches by ten runs or more this season.

Krista Cortazar was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April. Elise Larson was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI.

Mid Valley always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .654. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Riverside only posted an OBP of .000.

Mid Valley's win bumped their record up to 19-3-1. As for Riverside, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-13.

As of now, neither Mid Valley nor the Vikings have any future games scheduled.
