Basketball Game Preview: Archbishop Carroll Lions vs. Bishop O'Connell Knights

Archbishop Carroll is 2-8 against Bishop O'Connell since January of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Archbishop Carroll Lions will host the Bishop O'Connell Knights at 7:30 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Archbishop Carroll took a loss when they played away from home on Thursday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They came out on top against Our Lady of Good Counsel by a score of 80-70. The Lions haven't had any issues with the Falcons recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Meanwhile, Bishop O'Connell's and Our Lady of Good Counsel's match on Sunday was close at halftime, but Bishop O'Connell turned on the heat in the second half with 43 points. Bishop O'Connell blew past Our Lady of Good Counsel 70-47. The Knights have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won ten games by 22 points or more this season.

Archbishop Carroll better keep an eye on Shane Lincoln. He was instrumental in Bishop O'Connell's win, almost dropping a double-double with 16 points and nine boards. That's the most rebounds Lincoln has posted since back in November of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Darius Bivins, who scored eight points along with three steals and three blocks.

Bishop O'Connell smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive boards in three consecutive contests.

Bishop O'Connell's win bumped their record up to 20-8. As for Archbishop Carroll, their victory bumped their record up to 15-13.

Archbishop Carroll came up short against Bishop O'Connell in their previous matchup on Thursday, falling 62-56. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Bishop O'Connell's Matt Dalton, who went 10-for-15 on his way to 25 points and seven boards.
