Forge Christian has been on the road for two straight, but on Wednesday they'll finally head home. They will take on the Jefferson Academy Jaguars at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Hopefully Forge Christian focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 on Thursday.
Last Thursday, Forge Christian earned a 48-36 win over Manual.
Forge Christian's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Aleeza Olson led the charge by scoring 14 points along with eight steals and five rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Olson has scored all season. Gabriella Geypens was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with six steals.
Jefferson Academy suffered their biggest defeat since December 2, 2023 on Saturday. They suffered a rough 45-21 defeat at the hands of Colorado Academy. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Jefferson Academy in their matchups with Colorado Academy: they've now lost seven in a row.
Jefferson Academy's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Sofia Pathak, who scored seven points along with seven rebounds, and Elsa Nygren who scored four points along with six rebounds and two steals. Nygren has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last nine times she's played.
Forge Christian pushed their record up to 6-5 with that win, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.0 points per game. As for Jefferson Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-4.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Forge Christian have been smashing the glass this season, having only averaged 34.1 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Jefferson Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 30 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Forge Christian might still be hurting after the 50-27 defeat they got from Jefferson Academy when the teams last played back in January of 2023. Thankfully for Forge Christian, Allie Jo Kirkpatrick (who scored 18 points along with five assists and five steals) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
