The Shorewood Stormrays will square off against the Meadowdale Mavericks at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Shorewood is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.8 runs per game this season.
Shorewood is probably headed into the matchup with a chip on their shoulder considering Mountlake Terrace just ended the team's three-game winning streak on Monday. They fell just short of the Hawks by a score of 3-2.
Shorewood got a good showing from Aaron James, who pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. What's more, James gave up only one walk, the fewest he's had since back in March.
At the plate, Shorewood saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Finn Liekkio, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Meadowdale). They put the hurt on Lynnwood with a sharp 7-1 victory on Monday. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last five times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.
Tristan Dodds spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on two hits and racked up 11 Ks. He has become a key player for Meadowdale: the team is 2-1 when he allows at most two earned runs, but 1-8 otherwise.
Meadowdale's win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 3-9. As for Shorewood, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-4.
Meadowdale's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Shorewood has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .447. It's a different story for Meadowdale, though, as they've only averaged .335. Will they be able to contain Shorewood's hitters?
Shorewood came up short against Meadowdale in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, falling 3-0. Will the Stormrays have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more baseball content.
