Even though the Hi-Plains Patriots have not done well against the Kiowa Indians recently (they were 0-3 in their previous three matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Hi-Plains walked away with a 44-37 victory over Kiowa. The win made it back-to-back wins for Hi-Plains.
Hi-Plains' win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Caelan Church, who scored seven points along with seven rebounds and three blocks. Brooklynn Henschel was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with five rebounds.
When it comes to explaining why Kiowa lost, one person who can't be blamed is Jordan Perreault. Despite the final result, she scored 20 points along with five steals. Another player making a difference was Rylee Wyer, who scored eight points.
Hi-Plains now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Kiowa, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-1.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Hi-Plains will take on Briggsdale at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. Hopefully Briggsdale focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 23 last Saturday. As for Kiowa, they will be playing at home against Evangel Christian Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday.
