The Wallace-Rose Hill Bulldogs waltzed into their matchup on Saturday with two straight wins but they left with three. They came out on top against Pender by a score of 70-57. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Leading Wallace-Rose Hill to victory were Irving Brown and Jamarae Lamb. Brown scored 13 points, while Lamb scored 17 points. Amir Moore was another key contributor, scoring nine points.
Pender lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Cyrus Page, who scored 16 points along with five rebounds. Another player making a difference was Jordan Hansley, who scored 14 points.
Wallace-Rose Hill's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-5. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.3 points per game. As for Pender, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-8.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Wallace-Rose Hill will square off against Kinston at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Kinston knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past 13 matches -- so hopefully Wallace-Rose Hill likes a good challenge. As for Pender, they will head out on the road to challenge West Columbus at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully West Columbus focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 14 last Wednesday.
