Leavitt is 7-2 against Waterville since May of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Hornets will take on the Panthers at 4:00 p.m. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Leavitt took a loss when they played away from home on Wednesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 10-9 win over Morse.

Morgan Folsom made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He tossed four innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs.
Folsom wasn't the only one making solid contact as seven players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Ryder Sawyer-Brown, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Sawyer-Brown is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played. Dominic Haney also deserves some recognition as he scored his first runs of the season.
Leavitt always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .525. The last time their OBP was this high was back in May of 2024.
Waterville hadn't beaten Oceanside on the road since May 18, 2022 but that history sure didn't bother them on Friday. The Panthers came out on top against the Mariners by a score of 9-6.
Garrett Gendreau spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered four earned (and two unearned) runs on eight hits.
At the plate, Felix Chapa was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. The team also got some help courtesy of Derek Couture, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI.
Waterville's victory ended a seven-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-4. As for Leavitt, their record now sits at 4-5.
Waterville's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Monday. Leavitt has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Waterville, though, as they've been averaging only 4.1 strikeouts. Will Leavitt keep running through batters, or will the Panthers buck the trend?
Everything went Leavitt's way against Waterville when the teams last played back in April, as Leavitt made off with a 12-2 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Hornets since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
