Baseball Recap: Madison County Has No Trouble Against Godby

Madison County won the last time they faced Godby and things went their way on Friday too. The Cowboys blew past the Cougars 16-5. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Cowboys.

Eli Underhill and Kannon Plain did most of the damage at the plate: Underhill got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and two RBI, while Plain got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. Madison County is 4-1 when Underhill posts two or more runs, but 7-9 otherwise. Marshall Pike also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Madison County always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .611. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Godby only posted an OBP of .440.

Madison County now has a winning record of 11-10. As for Godby, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-12.

Looking ahead, Madison County will take on Christ's Church Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Godby, they will look to defend their home field on Saturday against Rickards at 1:00 p.m. The Cougars' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Raiders have averaged an impressive 6.4 runs per game this season.
