It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact the Colleyville Heritage Panthers can now relate to. They took a 59-48 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Mavericks on Friday. Colleyville Heritage's defeat signaled the end of their 11-game winning streak.
Despite the loss, Colleyville Heritage still got an impressive performance from Luke Ullrich, who rushed for 225 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 11.8 yards per carry, and also threw for 425 yards and three touchdowns. Ullrich was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 60 yards. Hayden Golden was in the mix as well, providing Colleyville Heritage with two touchdowns.
It was another big night for Michael Hawkins, who rushed for 128 yards and three touchdowns on only 15 carries, and also threw for 316 yards and three touchdowns while completing 84% of his passes for Emerson. Another player making a difference was Kylen Evans, who picked up 196 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Colleyville Heritage's loss dropped their record down to 12-2. As for Emerson, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 12-2.
Colleyville Heritage does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Emerson is on the road again on Friday and play against South Oak Cliff at 7:00 p.m. on December 8th. South Oak Cliff knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past ten contests -- so hopefully Emerson likes a good challenge.
